Covers, B-sides, and Rarities: Mumm-ra's "Cute As"

The internet was down for quite a bit, but these are the posts that I’ve been meaning to post up for the last couple of days, all sorted out to their intended dates. Hope you’ll enjoy the songs as much as I do.

There’s a soft spot for the UK band, Mumm-ra that I have for them; solely and possibly because they’re one of the oldest band that I’ve known, and has been there since the very beginning. Not that they’re old in terms of age at any rate, it’s just that I’ve grown accustomed to their music for far longer than most of the music I’ve written here. Disappointing to say though, that after I’ve had the chance of listening to their long-awaited debut, These Things Move In Threes, it fails to unfold the same effect of their other remarkable tracks that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to before. Let’s just say, that the record was inconsistent, falling short of maintaining the same energy and vibrant hooks and rhythms all through their other tracks. I say this, and yet I still find myself on their side, supporting the band through thick and thin; it’s due to the fact that I’ve utmost confidence that I do know they have immense potential, and is capable of putting out a record that’s both notable and epic-- but then again, I may be asking for too much, how do I know. Plus, the band has also gotten me hooked on them real bad ever since they revealed that ‘Winnie the Pooh’ joke. Trust me, you’ll find no other band, that’s quite like Mumm-ra.

Having said all that, here’s a b-side, Cute As, to one of their released CD singles, What Would Steve Do? Not quite as good as compared to their others, but definitely more preferable than what the album has to offer, so to speak.
