Good Golly, By Jolly, This Is Really Good #13

Ignore the above picture if it may mislead you; Los Campesinos is not a band comprised of Kindergarten teachers singing songs while playing their wearisome guitars of happy folk-lore tunes to hyper though attentive-listening 5 and 6 year olds.

Initially formed during their university years (oh how I wish I could form a band during my university years), Los Campesinos is a band based in Cardiff, Wales, mainly consisting of seven fast friends who’ve all adopted the surname Campesinos! (and yes, Campesinos with an exclamation mark) and as the Rolling Stones have previously stated, the band is named after an old Spanish term for peasants, despite the fact that its members are neither Spanish nor peasants.

‘You! Me! Dancing!’ is the perfect soundtrack to your insanity streak and of all things slightly less normal and conventionally boring. Highlighting this, in a Pitchfork review it once declared that, ‘Some music should not be enjoyed sitting down in front of a computer’ and I am a 110 percent sure by that heavy feeling in my guts that those guys at the zine are definitely referring to this track. Do not, however be fooled by its slow intro; by the 30th second, it transcends upwards, gaining momentum at every step. Soon after which the guitar lines improves, glorious music begins to emerge and as the sounds of glockenspiels steps into frame, the music shoots off into believability converting rigid postures to bursts of quirky dance moves.

I find it difficult not to love this song; from its superb harmonies to its delightful chorus, It’s You!/It’s Me!/And It’s dancing! , you’d have to think twice (or 50 times) before overlooking this one.
