Choo Choo Choo Choo Beep Beep

We here, the citizens of UIA, I mean, the citizens here at UIA are very much in love with Japanese anything; Japanese cartoons, Japanese series, Japanese movies, Japanese men, Japanese porn, (err.., no I didn't really mean that last one) just say the word, they love ‘em all.

So, why is it that they’re not really excited when the Japanese influences are starting to invade the indie music scene in America? It’s because, they’re not psyched about Japanese anything when its being associated with American anything.

Deerhoof is one third Japanese, two thirds American and is an experimental rock band from San Francisco. Originally formed in 1994, they’ve now released 10 albums with the latest just released in January this year, called Friend Opportunity. The album, Friend Opportunity is described by Filter magazine, as “A beautifully crafted puzzle of WTF? …” They got a really high score of 91% out of 100 for that album.

I had the chance to listen to one of their songs of the album, called +81 and the song being sung by a Japanese vocalist is sure to be a little whacked out. Some part lyrics you wouldn’t understand, some part lyrics you’d get and some other parts that just doesn’t make any sense. You’ll pretty much be listening to the song and will be going ‘WTF…?’ a coupla times. But, the music certainly makes it worth listening to. I haven’t had the chance to listen to their other songs, but I bet it’s gonna be even more whacked out.

So, to get the people in UIA to listen to it, just say it’s an all girl band that comes all the way from Japan and they’ll be using it as their ringtone in no time. Yep, it’s not so hard to imagine the majority of the people here singing along to the lyrics of Deerhoof, “Choo choo choo choo, beep beep….”

Personal recommendation: I don’t know why, but I can imagine Amy singing this, so Amy, you might like this…… but correct me if I’m wrong.
