The Saps: Coup de Grace

The Saps is a 4 piece indie band from Chicago blending fractions of alt-country, indie grunge rock and a bit of pop in their latest album, C’mon Already – Start a Fire. ‘Coup de Grace’ on the other hand, sounds like pure indie pop/rock. Or all the genres above, combined.

The song is incredibly catchy and high in energy; you’re sure to be won over by it, even – yes, even at the first listen. I know I say that a lot, but it’s true, if you don’t believe me, you should listen. At the start of the song, you’re greeted with mocking, incongruous lines like On the day that I was born/They dropped me on the floor/And still you got to work on time, that intrigues and immediately grabs your attention. Lines that hides a story to tell, and immediately draws you to listen to it from start to finish, makes the song and the band, even more refreshingly quirky.

So, the Saps are who and ‘Coup de Grace’ is what.
