Good Golly, By Jolly, This Is Really Good #11

The Shins is literally a band that needs no introduction; if you don’t know who the Shins are, then you are seriously in some really, really deep shit.

Having their songs to be featured in our weekly fix of Good Golly is inevitable, what more with the array of deliciously delectable tunes such as ‘Sleeping Lessons’, ‘New Slang’ and many more; it’s like a gold mine of impeccably good music to choose from. However, unfortunately, restrictions are restrictions, and I am only allowed to choose a single song from the so-called ‘massive gold mine’.

‘Australia’ is not a song that easily stands out to its other main contenders being the Shins’ more notable tracks. But, the song is undeniably catchy and will surely and instantly get you tapping to its rhythm -whether it’s sub-consciously or not. The intro doesn’t directly remind you of some place obvious, located down under but instead seeps in with an Asian reminiscent that’s pleasantly soothing turned exciting till the vocal part comes in, where it starts subtle and soon after shrieks out as if the listeners were asking him to repeat what he’d just sang. All in all, the tune provides a truly amusing and pleasurable experience. You should listen.
