Its movies like this, we should watch more of. No tacky elements, no clichés, reality at its finest, and a happy ending minus all the cheesiness. How can you not fall in love with the characters; corrupted, dysfunctional, and yet still trying to achieve what’s best out of the worst. Main theme: When your own dreams aren’t working out the way you’ve planned it to be, make other people’s dream come true. Did that come out cheesy enough?
I haven’t even mentioned about the music. One of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard from a movie. Definitely works well with the mood. There’s no denying that Mychael Danna and DeVotchKa did a fantastic job in creating the movies’ own feel. Sufjan Stevens, I believe, also contributed a couple of songs. And if there’s any movie at all that would fit those wonderful sounds of Mr. Steven’s, this is definitely it.
